Now able to sell “Rhythm Core Alpha 2″ download codes!

Thursday, May 14th, 2015

I am pleased to announce that, at long last, we are finally able to sell “Rhythm Core Alpha 2″ Nintendo eShop download codes directly! This means we will finally have something to sell at all of these shows we have been doing!
Special thanks to Alex Palomares and Shamus O’Leary at Nintendo for making this happen!

Rhythm Core Alpha series now available in Russia!

Saturday, October 25th, 2014

While we are still working towards a release in Asia, Nintendo has given us a small present in releasing Rhythm Core Alpha and Rhythm Core Alpha 2 ( and many other eShop programs ) in Russia! This is pretty cool, although we never did a Russian translation or anything, so we can only hope they know one of the other five languages it was released in.
Nintendo did a good job remixing our artwork to make nice banners for the Russian version of the site, too. You can check it out here: http://www.nintendo.ru/-/Nintendo-DSiWare/Rhythm-Core-Alpha-2–790663.html

New demo video! Here is a video of my demo recorded from my appearance at the LA County Science Faire Mini Maker Faire in Pasadena, California last March. It is about 13 minutes and runs through core features, including some of the more advanced ones.
Everything you need to know to get started should be in this video!

Microphone Stand Mounts now available from Shapeways!

Monday, June 30th, 2014

Somebody was asking about our fabulous 3D printed microphone stand mount we use in our live videos. Well, we’ve made it available now via Shapeways! We don’t know if anybody will actually buy it because it is super expensive to order through them, but it is available! We even did a new version for the Nintendo 2DS too!

New song! “So Wrong” by Timon Marmex

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

Timon Marmex has created another fantastic Rhythm Core Alpha 2 composition! His song “So Wrong” was originally featured on his album “White Collar Punk” and has now been lovingly rendered using Rhythm Core Alpha 2 and is quite possibly better than the original! Give it a listen!

Rhythm Core Alpha “Make Chiptunes” standee

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

We got tired of nobody taking our flyers at shows,  so we made this flashy home brew standee with a real Nintendo DSi in it. Just try and ignore it now!

Ta da!

The thing is constructed around a mount we use for live shows,  so that will have to change eventually.

Mic stand mount detail

The face is just paper between two sheets of acrylic. Cutting acrylic is hard, and we ruined a lot of expensive sheeting.

Acrylic detail

There was to be an aluminum Channel border,  but we didn’t have a way too weld the aluminum in time.

We lit up the back with Christmas Tree lights. Cheap and attention grabbing.  To mount them we just stuck them through a chicken wire mesh.

Lighting mesh

Not so pretty,  but it works.

We’d like to add better backlighting, but so far this is pretty good! We had a lot more interest after we put this up!

In a few weeks we will get to use it again at Rockage in San Jose!

Rhythm Core Alpha shows and events for November / December 2013

Thursday, November 28th, 2013

There are lots of events going on in the world of Rhythm Core Alpha 2!

I’ll be demoing “Rhythm Core Alpha 2″ in the Make Room at Loscon 40 this Friday-Sunday November 29th – December 1st, with performances at 1pm on Saturday, and probably in the Crosstime Saloon variety show on Friday from 9-10pm.

December 4th, I have just confirmed I am performing (as Timon Marmex) in a late show (I probably go on after 11pm) at the Blacklight District Lounge in Long Beach. Free Show, ages 21 and over, 5 bands, doors open at 8pm.

Then, December 7th, I am demoing RCA2 again at the San Diego Mini Maker Faire in San Diego.

So now you have more opportunities than ever to see Rhythm Core Alpha 2 in action!

Removed the Forums, added a “Files” page.

Thursday, October 17th, 2013

Since nobody has posted in the forums in years, we have removed them completely. They were making it look like Rhythm Core Alpha was an inactive project, which could not be further from the truth! For those who want to chat with us about Rhythm Core Alpha and Rhythm Core Alpha 2, please visit our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/123510537671498/ .

We’ve added a new “Files” page to hold all of the files we make available to our users. These are mostly PDF versions of all of the manuals in various languages, but it also contains the contents of the press packs for those who wish to write about Rhythm Core Alpha products, something we highly encourage!

New Video! “How to do it! 8-Bit Worker” by Lucky Button Pusher!

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

Lucky Button Pusher has made us a new video! “How to do it! 8-Bit Worker” shows you how to build a song live in Rhythm Core Alpha 2, complete with captions explaining the process!

Thanks again to Lucky Button Pusher! We are forever in your debt!

Here is a PDF of the Manual!

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013

Folks on YouTube have been asking for a manual they can download and print, so we took what we had and made a PDF. You can get it here:

Rhythm Core Alpha 2 – User Manual

This is based on a draft version and doesn’t include edits that were made later to the version included in the product, so please refer to the internal version of the manual if there are any inconsistencies or errors.

Right now we are very busy, but remind us and we will try to get the other languages manuals up as well!
