Lotcheck headaches…

Monday, May 20th, 2013

What a day! I sent an e-mail to Nintendo asking for a few details on what video format to send the video in, but got impatient and sent it as-is. Nintendo’s site required me to download some funky uploader tool, but that wasn’t immediately apparent and so there was some difficulty. Eventually I got it working, but because of the giant file size the think aborted. By then, Nintendo wrote me back with the video format details and I was able to resend the file in the correct format.
Then I got a note from Lotcheck saying that the version I sent them was not the latest version! It turns out that loading the submission data from XML resets to the old file as well! Oops! So I cranked out a new submission packet with the correct stuff (double checked!) and sent that with profuse apologies.
Now I’ve got a splitting headache, but at least I am through with submission worries for a few days, anyway.

Sent to Lotcheck Again!

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

Ok, I just sent off the latest Lotcheck submission to Nintendo. We spent a week pouring over the manuals and game text looking for any errors to the terminology, formatting errors, incorrect quotes… anything! I hope they pass it this time…

3DS and Europe

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

The original Rhythm Core Alpha was added to the 3DS store pretty much automatically, I didn’t have to do anything special. I thought Nintendo was telling me I had to file a separate project sheet for the 3DS, but as it turns out I don’t need a separate project sheet for 3DS after all, I just need to send them 3DS eShop art. I have received a game code for Europe and will submit as soon as the US is approved!

3rd Lotcheck

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

Nintendo sent back with just one required revision… they found a crash bug! Fortunately it was an easy one! I fixed a couple of other little display issues while I was in there and have just sent off the third Lotcheck submission! Hopefully this is the last time…

New Beats and Loops!

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

Rhythm Core Alpha 2 is going to ship with a good selection of beats, loops, and songs for folks to mess with. We have five songs each from Lucky Button Pusher and Timon Marmex, a new song by Here Between You Me’s Terence James, and two songs by Tina Belmont. We have at least 31 music loops you can build songs out of, and about a dozen raw beats in popular styles. Yeah, I know your average portable keyboard has 100 beats, but are you folks really going to miss “Jazz Waltz”, “March”, or “Bossa Nova”?
Actually, totally let me know if there is a beat that you want in there. I might be able to cram a few in before next week…

Working on Loops and Beats for Rhythm Core Alpha 2!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

Just spent the day making a ton of loops and beats for Rhythm Core Alpha 2! The new “Import Block” command lets you build songs out of pre-made loops! Of course, you can still make your own, and you can even use “Export Block” to save them so that you can include them in other songs. There is even a “Merge” option to allow you to import data into an existing block, it will only overwrite where it has new data; it will leave everything else alone.

Video of last Friday’s show at All Different Colors!

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Here is the video of last weeks show at All Different Colors. Special thanks to Tim Abad for doing the editing and providing the great visuals during the show, and Jeni Roberts and Mike Horton (Evil Wezil) for handling the cameras while I played! Also, thanks to Kevin “Wizwars” Martinez for setting up the show, and for Jesse Avila of 1000 Needles for finding a new venue when the old one fell through. Finally, thanks to ADC for having us!

There were eight bands in the show, Hyperwave, Dasid, Bleeds, Wizwars, Evil Wezil, Space Town Savior, 1000 Needles, and myself (as Timon Marmex). I took video of the ENTIRE SHOW, which you can see here!

Video coverage of our Friday show!

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

There is a fine video news item on bitmob about our show this past Friday! It talks a lot about the LA chiptune scene, and has some stuff about Rhythm Core Alpha and a bit of my performance! [LINK] Thanks to Alejandro Quan-Madrid for putting this together!
