Thursday, August 15th, 2013

What are you waiting for? Go get it now!

Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ will be released in Europe and Australia on August 15th!

Thursday, July 25th, 2013

We are pleased to announce that the European version of Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ has passed all Nintendo testing and is due to be released in those territories on August 15th. That includes the UK, all of Europe, and Australia!

We are very excited to finally release in Europe and Australia! We can’t wait to hear what kind of music you can make!

Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ will be available as a download for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DSi game systems in the Nintendo eShop or Nintendo DSiWare store. The price in Europe will be 10 euros, or 1000 Nintendo Points.

Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ is the most full-featured music sequencer / solo instrument available for Nintendo game platforms, designed for creating and playing music live. It includes a traditional drum grid and piano-roll style sequencer, a solo mode with 10 different variations for playing instruments live, a drum screen for playing drums, a mixer screen for controlling levels, and a pattern mode for arranging loops and chord changes to form complete songs.

It contains many synthesis capabilities like ADSR envelopes for volume and pitch, a powerful vibrato/arpeggio feature, and per-track echo.

The buttons can be redefined to change the key and scale of your sequences, and/or jump to different loops or different sections of the pattern (song), a feature that is unique among music software programs on any platform.

There is a full set of editing features for copying notes and beats that is not available in any other Nintendo music tool.

For these reasons, we believe that Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ is the most powerful music program on any game platform, and the most compelling program for the creation of live music.

3DS and Europe

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

The original Rhythm Core Alpha was added to the 3DS store pretty much automatically, I didn’t have to do anything special. I thought Nintendo was telling me I had to file a separate project sheet for the 3DS, but as it turns out I don’t need a separate project sheet for 3DS after all, I just need to send them 3DS eShop art. I have received a game code for Europe and will submit as soon as the US is approved!

Rhythm Core Alpha easier to find in European 3DS eShop!

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Rhythm Core Alpha is now listed under “Music and Rhythm Games” (or your local translation of such) in the Nintendo 3DS eShop for Europe! We are about in the middle of the list! Now everybody in Europe, the UK, and Australia can more easily find and get the best music program on a Nintendo portable!

E3, Rhythm Core Alpha 2 development

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

At E3 last week, we approached Nintendo with a number of things we wanted to work on. Better placement in the 3DS store for Europe, the ability to sell in Japan, becoming a publisher so that we can print cartridges for Rhythm Core Alpha 2, and the possibility of using crowdsourced funding for those cartridges. For the most part, we received a lot of business cards to which e-mails were sent.

So now is the waiting for replies.

Meanwhile, we are back to work on coding for “Rhythm Core Alpha 2″. The number of new features and tweaks are incredible, but the hardest thing is to stop adding things and actually ship the product. We’re finally getting down to the more boring features that are incredibly useful, but totally no fun to program. Such as the ability to import your songs from the original Rhythm Core Alpha (1) if you have it installed.

We are treating Rhythm Core Alpha more like a PC program development than a console game; we are emphasizing features and power most of all, rather than stripping things out to make it friendly. We have finally made some tweaks to the art to make it a little more stylish and consistent, but capabilities are king. But it is still a long way out.

Those of you who haven’t had a chance yet, please be sure to check out the original version of Rhythm Core Alpha in the Nintendo DSiWare Shop or the Nintendo 3DS eShop ( in the DSiWare section, or under “Applications” ). The original is still an amazing program that has capabilities that no other music program has, and at $5 (or 5 Euros) it is really a steal… the newer version will be much more expensive!

Rhythm Core Alpha is under DSiWare in 3DS eShop for Europe?

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

I’ve been told that “Rhythm Core Alpha” is 3 clicks from the front of the front of the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Europe, under DSiWare or something like that. Can anybody confirm that?

Rhythm Core Alpha in European 3DS eShop “Feel the Rhythm” section.

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Rhythm Core Alpha is now much better placed in the Nintendo 3DS eShop for Europe, the UK, and Australia, appearing in a section called “Feel the Rhythm”. Being close to the front page helped sales in the Americas tremendously, so we are hoping that this helps us in the rest of the world!

Alas, we still don’t have a partner for selling Rhythm Core Alpha in Japan and the rest of Asia…
